Staff Sergeant Milosz “Kam” Kaminski is knocked unconscious during a reconnaissance mission and wakes up one month later to find himself in a hospital bed in New Arcadia, a town he’d never heard of, somewhere in the Appalachians.
His only possessions are the clothes he’s been given at the hospital. The staff is very friendly, but they’re worried about his traumatic brain injury. They insist that he stays in bed to rest.
Never having been good at taking orders, Kam begins exploring the town, only having to return minutes later with a roaring headache and a shaky gait.
Over the next couple weeks, the minute-long sojourns into town turn into hours, and the hours turn into a full day of exploring.
He spots Brandy, a member of his unit back at Fort Benning. Why was she here, and why couldn’t she remember him?
And why were there high fences with barbed wire surrounding the town? Is it to keep something out, or is it to keep everyone in?
There is something very wrong about the town of New Arcadia.
